Albany, NY, 11/7/2024 – The Center for Law and Justice along with so many are truly disheartened by the results of the 2024 election. So many, especially those from our country’s most vulnerable and marginalized communities, feared this outcome and now fear what comes next. The Center for Law and Justice stands firm in its mission against any policies which infringe on fair and equal treatment for everyone in light of our basic human dignity.
Policies which threaten the rights of individuals, particularly based on their belonging to protected classes, and the erosion of democratic norms cannot stand. We encourage residents of the Albany community and the Country as a whole to be courageous in advocating against attempts to govern based on hate or bias. What remains to be seen is how much of the Trump campaign’s policy agenda the administration is willing and able to implement. Willing, in the sense that we do not know which of his positions were pandering and which sincere, and able, in the sense that we must wait on an outcome for the House of Representatives.
At the Center for Law and Justice our mission stands firm regardless of political outcomes. Every setback is a reminder of the resilience needed to push for change and protect the rights of those who often go unheard. This is not just about one race, but about the race toward equality, dignity, and justice for all. Our work carries forward—undaunted, unwavering, and stronger than ever.
The late Dr. Alice Green, Founder and Former Executive Director of the Center for Law and Justice would organize in local communities to encourage community members to volunteer, vote in local and state elections, to use the power of their voices to take action towards impactful change, and most importantly be there for neighbors and vulnerable community members.
Our office will be open to community members as we navigate these times. We want to serve as a hub for residents to connect to resources and services and explore options for addressing community concerns. It is even more important now for community organizations and nonprofits to advocate for and protect our most vulnerable community members, as well as speak truth to power. Let us call out hate when we see it, make clear that we expect basic standards of treatment for everyone from the government, and organize ourselves for a long struggle.
